The Element Technetium


This is one of the elements used in nuclear medicine for a wide range of diagnostics tests. Before this element was actually found, Dimitri Mendeleev predicted the existence. Technetium is the first element to be produced artificially and most Technetium produced on Earth is a by-product of nuclear reactors and is extracted from nuclear fuel rods.

This element is highly used in nuclear medicine for carrying out radioactive medical tests. Usually Technetium has a long half life so decay of the element is relatively slow. Technetium has also been proposed for nanoscale nuclear batteries.
